‘There is no key to happiness, the door is always open’
Forty-something and ready to speak up, that’s who I am. My name is Aanika and I am a qualified Maths teacher who has a passion to help others. Born in Glasgow, Scotland raised in London, England to a Sikh Punjabi family I see myself very much a British Asian woman. Having lived a traditional childhood at home yet trying to fit into the modern society around me I struggled like many to find my identity.
Taking each day as it comes and through an element of trial and error I found myself crossing many difficult and challenging times to make me who I am now….bold, independent and not ashamed to speak the truth.
From the typical Indian family issues that occur behind closed doors to the public conflicts of friendships, relationships and ‘religion’ I have experienced it all…not to forget the arguments with myself!
Fair enough I haven’t written books, climbed mountains or made millions like other inspirational people have in life BUT I have lived a life that almost all can relate to at some point or another. I’m your go to friend, the girl next door or the shoulder to cry on which we all have one of.
My aim is to help those who feel alone, not understood or have no way out. Who can realistically relate to me and finally see a way out of the dark tunnel they feel trapped in. I might not be a doctor, but I can confidently say I have a PHD in the experiences of life.
I want to reach out to those who feel scared, vulnerable, insecure or trapped in whatever situation they are in and help them find their inner soldier/lion. If I, your average girl next door, can come through the toughest of storms, believe you me you can too. Nothing is too big or small to change but it MUST start with you!
